What's it all about?

Hailing from Sheffield, the four-piece guitar-combo take their name from Alex Cox's 80's US cult flick 'Repoman'. Proud of the musical heritage that has brought them up - it's easy to hear the ghost of The Undertones not to mention the guitar progressions of the Buzzcocks. In truth a myriad of influences infuse their current LP for Phantom Power, "Songs they never play on the radio" including XTC, Magazine, That Petrol Emotion and The Violent Femmes.

Shackled to no ultra-distinctive sound the band have always prided themselves in the diversity of their song writing, although a definite eighties feel is the glue that binds everything the do together. And don't be fooled by their catchy and dithering melodies: beneath the shiny pop veneer lurk narratives and lyrics that taping into the darker and less obvious side of life: suicide, burglaries that go wrong, and the juxtapositions that disasters throw up on the social order ("Trophy"). It's not all about the studio though: the Repo's effervesce on stage as caution is thrown to the wind and the barriers between audience and band are broken down. But don't take our word for it - check them out live.
